Farm For the Future (FFF) has during its three years of planning, aimed at promoting gender equality, especially for young single mothers without social networking, and focusing on being a professional contributorand inspiration for local farmers.

"With our emphasis on gender equality and young single mothers, it was quite natural for us to also look for the managerof the farm in this target group," says OsmundUeland, project manager and chairperson in FFF, which adds that this is well in line with Norwegian aid policy.

Grace Kimonge, 28, graduated from the Agricultural University of Sokoine University Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro in 2014 with a bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics Agribusiness. After that, she has worked for 4 years as Head of Division at Kilombero Sugar Company Ltd.

"When I was contacted, I was immediately impressed. I am proud to be part of a good change in society through the work I will do for Farm for the Future Tanzania Ltd (FFF)," Grace said.

"Grace will get the best help in developing the farm, and in her own development, from one of the best maize growers in Iringa .We are very happy to have Otto Ulyate from Rutuba Farmto assist us in our endeavours to succeed," said Ueland. He welcomes Grace to the farm now the first days of June. Renovation of the old buildings from the tobacco times is ongoing, a transformationto  temporary headquarters with a trainingcentre and warehouse.

FFF is a commercial farm of 651 acreswhich ,after the farm is cleared and fertilized, will begin to grow corn and beansin December.. The new buildings will be built in 2019 and 2020, and then milk cows, meat cattle and goats will be taken into the farm.

A major teaching component is also included, the Farm for the Future Training (NGO), with emphasis on training young single mothers, local farmers and youth. Children's Farm for the Future is part of the teaching section to awakenchildren’s interest and boost their knowledge of agriculture. They are the future, and will help to bring about development.

The KavliTrustin Norway has made it possible to start FFF through its impressive contribution in February 2018 of 580.000 USD. The project has attracted the best possible partners, and is well worth it’s value, and the remaining 750.000 USD, which now has to befinanced."This will be a project that, throughlong-term results, provesthat wiseuse of money for the right project, ensures important community developmentand social development in an area that needs it," concludes Ueland.

FFF sees the keys to success to be right partners, right equipment, right staff and the right working culture. The project has the vision: Empowering people.   See also www.farmforthefuture.net
